"A friend who can make you laugh, as the Koran points out, is a gift from God -- and Tom was perhaps the only guy I knew whoe read the Koran."(Page 82)

The Old Sport & Gallery is one of the largest stores in the world that specializes in golf art. Owner Tom Stewart has studied the history, art and literature of golf for most of his life, and Old Sport was founded out of his love and passion for the game. Tom Stewart is a Life Member of the PGA of America who has competed, taught and written about golf in over 30 countries. He grew up caddying and playing at a club in Northern Michigan where Walter Hagen had been the first professional.

While traveling and playing professionally in the United States, the Asian, Australian/New Zealand and South American Tours, Mr. Stewart managed to accumulate one of the most significant art, book and artifact collections ever assembled in one place. After a long career in golf, Tom, his wife Ilana and son Bryan set up shop in the historic "Home of American Golf" -- the Village of Pinehurst, North Carolina.

The Gallery occupies most of the first floor of the historical Harvard Hotel Building, founded in 1898. The Old Sport & Gallery is part art gallery, part bookshop, and part memorabilia museum of all that makes golf great. Stewart has published and/or written three best selling books on the art and history of the game and is now working on a fourth.

The Old Sport & Gallery has won awards or recognition from such sources as Golf Digest, Sports Illustrated, Travel & Leisure, Golf Week, The Golf Channel, Fine Living Channel, and The New York Times and from several news-wire services.

The gallery includes original oil paintings, limited edition lithographs, deluxe canvas giclees, open edition indigo prints by almost all of the golf artists throughout the world. The gallery proudly displays the original art of Richard Chorley, Bernard Willington, Bill Williams and many others.
